Student Leadership is actively promoted at Guthridge Primary School through a variety of leadership opportunities.
Student Council consists of elected representatives from Year 5 and Year 6. Student Councillors attend the GRIP Student Leadership Conference at the beginning of the year and actively lead activities throughout the year (e.g. specific fundraisers, our ANZAC ceremony, assemblies, "Guthridge Has Got Talent"). The GRIP Student Leadership Conference concentrates specifically on training student leaders for their role as leaders in the school.
The Environment Team consists of an elected representative from each year level who are responsible for the beautification of our grounds and gardens. All classes participate in sustainability activities.
Sporting House Captains and Vice Captains are elected for our three sporting houses which are named after local rivers. They are: Macalister (GREEN) Thomson (YELLOW) Latrobe (RED). The House system is used for a variety of occasions, including sports and the sporting house captains play a key role in the organisation of inter-house sporting events.
Music Captains are elected to assist with school performances, eisteddfods and musical tours.
Our Year 6s fundraise towards the cost of their Graduation ceremony through a Fabulous Friday (a mini-fete which is planned and run exclusively by the students). Our senior students take on the leadership role of Yard Buddies to provide focus and activities for our Foundation -Year 2 students at lunch-times.
