Guthridge Primary School has high expectations of all its students and aims to provide an opportunity for each of them to develop as learners, now and in the future.
Welcome to the Guthridge Primary School website. We have tried to include as much information as we can but please feel free to contact us if there is something additional you would like to know. At Guthridge Primary School, we really value the home-school partnership and encourage parents to be actively involved in their child's education.
We aim to make Guthridge Primary School as welcoming as possible with bright displays of student learning and photographs of students participating in various activities displayed along the corridors and in the classrooms. We pride ourselves on providing a curriculum that is varied and engaging. Classrooms provide print-filled, rich learning environments. E-learning is evident throughout the school and our learning technology is constantly updated.
We have a Parents' and Carers' Club and School Council who constantly strive to provide improved facilities and opportunities for our students. As a result, our school facilities include a Fitness Centre, Library/Resource centre, Heated Swimming Pool, Multi-Purpose Hall and dedicated Art Space to mention just a few. You can read more about our fantastic school environment that includes engaging and challenging outdoor playgrounds on our Facilities page.
Our school has a committed and professional staff team, both in terms of teaching staff and non-teaching staff. We are committed to making a difference in our teaching and learning. As well as core curriculum, enrichment activities operate that promote the individual child's health, wellbeing and self-esteem. These include the Instrumental Program, Performing Arts Program, Foundation-Support additional developmental Year, Inter-School Sport, camps, excursions and incursions, whole school Social and Emotional and Play is the Way Program and intensive Foundation to Year 6 Swimming Program that operates in our own enclosed, heated swimming pool with qualified instructors.
Literacy and Numeracy support is available for identified children. Guthridge Primary has a well established Program for Students with Disabilities with a philosophy of full integration in the classroom. Gifted and Talented children are also effectively accommodated through special classroom programs designed to extend and challenge, through an emphasis on open-ended activities and "thinking skills".
Our class structure and number of classes is determined by student enrolment each year. This includes the highly regarded and sought after
Foundation-support class which is unique to the area and is aimed at students who are of school age but are not quite ready either socially or developmentally for the more formal Foundation year.
Our Core Values of Show Respect, Have a Go, Keep Trying, Bounce Back and Work as a Team, guide our behaviour and how we should treat each other. They are at the centre or core of what makes us who we are when we are part of the Guthridge Team. We have three behaviour expectations of Be Respectful, Be Safe and Be Responsible which encompass all of our school rules. You can learn more about school values and expectations on our School Values and Wellbeing Page.
Please contact us to arrange a visit so you can view first-hand what our school has to offer your child.
